After what felt like forever
I finally got my cover proof today. Of course, it was perfect so I approved it & am now waiting to hear when the big release date will be.
I got notice @ 7:52 a.m. that my book is now in the cover design dept. I should be receiving my cover art anyday now. I do hope it is soon ! I am so excited about this and cannot wait to see what they come up with as a cover for my book.
I was just informed @ 3:01 p.m.,that I can now purchase my Galleys if I want them. These are for handing out for reviews and such. Of course I want a hundred of them but had better just get enough to cover what I need. That way I can save my money for the finished book ...cover included.
I sent in my corrections & was sent the manuscript back once more to make sure the corrections were indeed made. All were corrected, except one & it was corrected rather quickly.
According to my PA contact, "After this final review, your book will be in its final form and will be ready to be printed."
One step closer to holding the completed product in my hand. What a day that will be!
I got my Page Proofs today @ 11:35 a.m. & am very excited about that. I have gone through the manuscript several times & noted the few errors I found. Luckily, there were not many & I can have it on the way back to them in a day or so. In case anyone hasn't tried it yet....use Adobe & select the "read aloud" option. It really helps to notice erors you would otherwise not catch. It takes a bit to get used to the wierd computer voice reading to you but once you get past that...it's a very handy program.
Another great day ! I got my advance today in the mail along with the packet of promotional material. PA offered alot of advice and examples concerning how to advertise my new book.
PA sent my Final Drafts to me for editing @ 2:01pm & I was able to return them by 9:08pm. I had already done alot of the editing on the manuscript--actually been working on it since I sent them the first draft. The 7-8 things they had pointed out were errors that I had found & corrected. I did make sure to go over it again before sending it back, just in case. Next step--one more chance to edit....then moving on to the cover design! This is all so exciting!
I received my Certificate of Registration via mail on my copyright.(13 days from the time I applied until I got the Certificate) Now that is fast!!
Today was a great day . I got the news today that my manuscript was headed to the next stage. I am so excited! The exciting news : "It is a pleasure to inform you that your book is entering its next production stage, and that you are now in control of the clock. After studying the final manuscript draft that you submitted we have found it to be among the books that do not require substantial editing due to the uniqueness of your voice. You did a solid job when you recently produced the final draft at our request. This is good news, because now that we are ready to process the manuscript through our text department....you can have your new book in your hands as early as next month! " I am so proud to have my book published by Publish America. They are a great publisher and are so very kind with words. A great combination for new authors.
My copyright info is available for viewing in the public records. I am so excited. Things are really moving along at a nice speed. Click here & enter Search For Magic to see my copyright info !
I had been approved for the eCo (electronic copyright) and after asking PA, I filed for my copyright for my book so it will be able to be posted on the inside of 'The Search For Magic' at the time of printing. My contact in Pre-Production told me that once my book goes to print it is considered copyrighted, so they normally don't ask for the copyright information, but if an author chooses to officially file with the government it is fine. It is said by the copyright office that it often takes up to 6 months but some have received the copyright in 2-3 months.
She also said that they shouldn't make enough changes to the text of my manuscript to have to recopyright it.
PA notified me that my Author Questionnaire had been received along with my list of names for the mailing and my manuscript.
I just heard from PA - they received my signed contract today and sent my Authors Questionnaire. I had already gathered most of the information requested so I was able to get it returned to them today @ 3:36pm.
I received my contract from Publish America today. Everything was just how they said it would be so I signed and returned it.
